National Wetlands Centre in Llanelli. For a wonderful day out in a uniquely beautiful landscape, watching and learning about some of Wales' most exciting wildlife. One of the world-famous Wildfowl and Wetland Trust centres and the only one of its kind in Wales, the centre stretches over 550 acres of Burry inlet. Its spectacular mosaic of lakes, pools, lagoons and reed beds are home to a diversity of wild species. There are also thousands of ducks, geese, swans and flamingoes to admire as you wander the landscaped pathways and striking
water gardens.
Penwaun Holiday Cottages are just half an hour away from some of the most spectacular coastline in the UK – boasting hidden coves, beautiful sandy beaches, amazing views and some wonderful walks. You’ll be spoilt for choice, whether you decide to explore Pembrokshire, with its magnificent Coastal Path that stretches for almost 300kms, Carmarthenshire with it’s wide swathes of sandy beaches, or the Marine Heritage Coast of Cardigan Bay with its majestic headlands and picturesque fishing villages and harbours.
Mwnt, an award winning beach where you can soak up spectacular sunsets is one of our favourites, as is Tresaith, with its lovely beach, which offers something for all the family.
Cardigan Bay is an important haven for marine wildlife, and home to bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoises and a wide variety of birds such as the red kite, choughs, peregrine falcons, gannets and puffins. Grey seal pups are born around the coast – particularly on the islands of Skomer, Stokholm and Ramsey during September and October.
You can take boat trips to view this fantastic marine wildlife, though it is possible to spot them as you explore the coastline of Pembrokeshire and Cardigan Bay. If you fancy learning more about the Marine Environment, head to the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre.
